British Values
At Rectory Farm, we are committed to serving our community and recognise the multicultural, multi-faith and every changing nature of the United Kingdom.
British values are defined as:
- Democracy
- Rule of Law
- Individual liberty
- Mutual respect
- Tolerance of those with different faiths of beliefs.
These values complement our Caterpillar values and are actively promoted through PSHE lessons, daily assemblies, special events and our successful school council.
They are an integral part of our Teaching and Learning process across the curriculum, supporting the development of the ‘whole child’.
Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural (SMSC)
Our PSHE curriculum, Jigsaw, provides a structured programme of personal development to nurture the ‘whole child’ and increase learning capacity, underpinned by mindfulness philosophy and practice. Every Jigsaw lesson from Early Years to upper primary offers opportunities for children’s spiritual, moral, social and cultural (SMSC) development, and this is clearly mapped and balanced across each year group. Visit our PSHE curriculum page for more in-depth information.
Opportunities and experiences beyond the classroom are woven through our curriculum from Reception to Year 6. See our SMSC map below for more information.
